Making Progress

The sock fit David, so I've started the 2nd one.  The Vest for Sharon #1 fit her and she is happy to receive it and the 2 pair of socks.  Haven't heard from her DIL about the Vest/Shrug but Sharon said she, DIL, had received it and was going to e-mail me.  I had mailed everything a week ago yesterday and as of yesterday Jeanne had not received her taxes.  After checking I realized I had put the wrong zip code on the envelope.  It will take a bit longer for her to get it because of that!

I've held a circular Signature needle.  I was so impressed with the feel and lightness, sort of like holding a cloud.  Covet! Covet!  So, when I decided to list my needles on Ravelry I immediately felt the difference in all of my needles, especially the double points.  Now, I do have Knit Picks 5" sock needle double points and really like them, but they only go up through size 3.  I have lots of Clover, some Crystal Palace and some Brittany double points along with some metal ones.  Just handling all of these needles made me realize the different textures between manufacturers.  The same with the circulars that I listed.  Anyway it was driving me nuts!  Kept thinking about the Signature needle I had held.  I went on their site and read some of the reviews.  One gal mentioned that she did not have the "falling out" problem with their double points and that remark stuck with me.  The problem is they are not cheap and I'm not young!  Should I really put that much money into any new needles, when I have every size I will ever use.  The double points are $55.00 per set and the circulars are $40.00 each!  I made a Wish List!

Late Monday night I phoned an ex-knitter friend (Norma) in Utah, that is about 10 years older than I am, just to visit.  As we visited I mentioned the Signature needles and her reply was:  "You don't have arthritis and your vision is great.  You will be knitting for more than 10 or 20 more years.  You deserve them!  Buy them!"   Now you really have to understand that I like to watch my savings grow and could be considered very tight with my money EXCEPT when it comes to knitting or friends in need.  I watch my budget.  So, this was really bothering me, as I had aready spent my knitting budget for the month.  Then to top it off I had spent my "blow it" budget on knitting related items also!  I ordered 2 sets of double points, size 4 and size 6!   Now, I did this late in the evening on Monday, a holiday, and I logged on to my e-mail the next day at 10:30 in the morning and there was an e-mail saying "Your order has shipped"!  That means that they filled my order and shipped it by 9:30 in the morning; they are in the Central time zone!  No changing your mind with them!  I have decided that I will make a change to my budget and make one purchase a month, if they are as great as I think they will be!  They should be here tomorrow, along with my order from Knit Picks!

I just talked to Sharon #1.  The lat time I talked to her I asked her if she would like some mittens, Pop Up Paws, to be exact.  She said no, she rarely wears gloves or mittens.  Well, she has had a change of heart! LOLROF.  Her vest was out of Plymouth Yarn's Mulberry Merino and it is so soft and she loves the feel.  So she asked if I had any more of that yarn.  It just happens that yes, I just bought 2 more skeins in the same color.  Now I have 2 pair of Pop Up Paws on my list, one pair for her and a pair for me!  That darn list just keeps growing!

I have made progress on the Fiber Trends slippers.  I have the body and double soles knitted and ready to start joining.  Then it will be just the felting and then design embroidery.

I need to get the ribbing finished on David's 2nd sock today so that I can do mindless rounds later this evening.

What am I doing on here!  I should be knitting!

Some progress made

Finished the first sock for DS.  Since I had made some pattern changes I am sending it off to him tomorrow to try on.  The darned pair will be in the same box, along with his taxes!

I'm mailing Sharon #1's vest and two pair of socks to her tomorrow.  The Shrug/Vest I had made out of the Alpaca yarn is going to Sharon #1's DIL tomorrow. She is skinny and it will look great on her.

Mailing Jeanne's taxes to her tomorrow.

Thank heavens I don't have to pay taxes!

I got the Fiber Trends Natural Comfort Felt Slippers started on Saturday 2/12/11.

I really should have kitchnered the white socks today, but I really ran out of time with all the taxes I needed to put on forms.  I did another friend's taxes that have to be mailed to Utah for her to sign and send on!

Tax note to anybody reading this, fill out the 1040 Schedule M if you had earned income. It could mean $400 or more in a tax credit!

Winter slow down

I haven't felt like doing much.  I did buy a Wonder Washer for felting and realized it can be used for my normally small loads of laundry.  It works like a charm for both, I love it!

Finished the white socks, except for kitchnering the toes.  I save up until I have a bunch to do and then do them all at once.

Another sock on the needles for David (son with big feet!) using Red Heart's Heart & Sole in colorway Teqila Sunrise.  I found out he loves the colorful socks and his co-workers and boss think they are neat!  He even mixes them up, wearing one from one set with one from another set!  The current on the needles sock is done a bit different than normal, more stitches around and a bit longer.  I told him I will send the one sock for him to try on and see how it fits.  I don't want to make the 2nd one until I'm sure of the fit.

Made the deposit for my friend and I to go on a fourteen day Alaskan cruise the end of May.  So, Sharon #1 (her) and Sharon #2 (me) will take a round trip cruise eating lots and getting fat and sassy!  We are lucky that we get along perfectly.
